I want you to know that I love you, and I feel sorry for you. I don’t know what kind of past experiences you’ve had or what kind of life you’re living right now that is causing you to feel this way, but I hope that someday you are able to heal from them.
I believe that ace people are valid members of the LGBT+ community. That shouldn’t make you feel threatened or unsafe, and I’m sorry if it does. Ace people identify as LGBT+ because our experience is radically different from that of heterosexual people - just as the experience of gay people is different. I love being part of the LGBT+ community because I feel safe here - I feel like I’m with people who understand what it’s like to be different, and to subvert the expectations of a heteronormative society.
Please remember that if an ace person treats you poorly, that shouldn’t reflect on your perception of the entire ace community. Some ace people are total dickwads - just like some gay people, and some straight people. Unfortunately, no one is exempt from being an asshole. But I can tell you that most ace people are pretty neat, and I hope you try to get to know some of us better offline before you make sweeping judgments about us online. Thank you, and I really hope you have a great day.
Stay rad,
Andromeda
